Today is the day for us to explore the biggest and most incredible temple of Angkor Archaeological Zone - Angkor Wat. It was built in the 12th century (from 1112 to 1152) in the King Suryavarman II dynasty to worship Vishnu. Now, it is the national landmark of Cambodia, which also appears on the flag of the country. The area is also recognised as UNESCO world heritage that needs protecting.

Angkor Wat tells us the stories about Hindu deities and eternal life through a lot of carvings on the surface. Via the splendid structure of the complex, you can imagine how shine the kingdom was during the Angkor period. Despite being abandoned since the 15th century, it still remains a vital Buddhist site and home to many Buddha images.

Our trip will continue to the smallest temple in Angkor complex - Banteay Srei. Although it has an intimate size, the temple features beautiful pink sandstone structure and wonderful Ramayana carvings in order to attract tourists.

Next, we head to the old monastery of Ta Prohm. The structure is especially built for the mother of King Jayavarman VII in 1186. So, this temple turned out to be a place where 12,500 people including 18 priests and 80,000 Khmer people were covered up. After the fallen of Khmer Kingdom, the temple was sadly surrounded by lush forests.

Take your time contemplating the immense carvings of the temple and enjoy the silence here. After that, our guide will escort you to the hotel.

Meals are on your own. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Extensive Trip Thru Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos

We recently returned from a 11 day trip thru Vietnam, Cambodia and  Laos with 3 other couples. This was a private trip planned with Asia Private Travels and was customized to our specific travel requirements including high level hotels/resorts, internal flights, cities, sights and local guides. Mr. Aung provided an excellent itinerary, communication and service before and during the trip. He ensured that everything was taken care of, from the met with us at the airport, transportation, local tour guides, hotels, plane tickets, and entries to major sites. We did not have any problem or issue during this entire 11 day trip. We had been to Vietnam almost 10 years ago and things have definitely gotten more modern but also more crowded. Siem Reap and Luang Prabang in Cambodia was wonderful and awe inspiring with the many temples and pagodas. Laos is more fun than I expected. We highly recommend anyone traveling to this part of the world with Asia Private Travels. We would if we tavel to other parts of the Asia.
